Volunteering
The development of our volunteers came mainly through the implementation of our humanitarian projects. However, parallel to the parcel distribution, the youth of Lebanon that got inspired to leave an impact on their community was trained on volunteer-related skills, focusing on ethos, accountability, trust, and professional communication.
Current Projects
The Mouneh Project
Young people from North Lebanon collect food from the markets and the communities and redistribute it to underprivileged families. The programme has been running since 2018 and, ever since, more than 1500 boxes containing 10-20 kg of food each have been delivered with the help of our volunteers. The funding of this programme is secured through donations from generous individual donors (mostly from Lebanon, the USA, and Australia) or NGOs like Rotary, the Lebanese Food Bank, and the Jordanian Lebanese Association.
Past Programs
“Support Beirut” Project
Following the explosion in Beirut Port on the 4th of August 2020, DCL mobilized its local and international network to offer support to those in need. Our volunteers collected donations from the Lebanese in North Lebanon, while we also launched an online crowdfunding campaign through the Just Help platform, raising a substantial amount for the purchase of food boxes and medication for Beirut families in distress. The final distribution took place with the help of our dedicated group of volunteers.
The Palestinian Refugee Food Relief Project
500 boxes with a variety of food products (total weight ca 20 kg per parcel) were distributed to Palestinian refugee families under distress (summer 2020). The procurement, packaging and distribution processes were fully managed by DCL and its volunteers. The Palestinian refugees were identified and shortlisted according to their needs in cooperation with UN Relief agency staff on-site; the transportation and distribution to two Palestinian camps and a Palestinian community in Tripoli was made in collaboration with young people from the North of Lebanon.
